How to Apply Trim And Bumper Sponge Applicator Paint?

Ideal Conditions to use

Use outdoors or in a well ventilated area such as an open garage. Use when temperature is between 50-80°F (10- 26°C) and humidity is below 85% to ensure proper drying. For best results, do not paint in direct sunlight.

Surface Preparation

Remove all dirt, wax, and grease from the surface with Rust-Oleum Wax And Tar Remover. Wash the area with a mild soap and water solution, fresh with fresh water, and dry with a clean cloth. Lightly sand uneven areas and remove all sanding dust.

Priming for Best Results

To improve adhesion, a Rust-Oleum Primer is recommended when rust is present on the surface to be painted. Recommended primers include 249321 Primer Sealer or any of the sandable primers (249419 Red, 252472 Light Gray, or 249415 Gray).

Use only with adequate ventilation. Without removing the cap, shake bottle for one minute. Recap and shake as needed during the painting process. Depress the sponge applicator tip in an inconspicuous area or on a piece of scrap material to start the paint flow. Apply paint using light pressure on the bottle. For best appearance, apply one coat of paint, let dry, and feather the edge. For even coverage, maintain a wet edge and with the sponge tip, smooth out any runs, drips, sags or excess paint. A foam brush may be used for hard to reach areas or to smooth out the paint finish. A second coat may be necessary for best coverage. Do not use near open flame.
