How to Apply Teak Oil?
Previously Finished Surfaces
For best results, surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of old finishes, dust, dirt, oils, or foreign matter. Old finishes in poor condition must be removed. Sand to obtain a smooth surface. Remove all sanding dust using a vacuum or cloth dampened with mineral spirits.
Unfinished Surface Preparation
Sand using 150-220 grit sandpaper and remove all sanding dust using a rag dampened with mineral spirits, or vacuum. If a filler or putty is used, make sure that it does not contain wax and allow enough time to dry thoroughly.
Brush : Stir or invert can several times before and during use. Do Not Shake. Flood surface and work into wood with a lint free cotton/poly rag or high quality brush. Allow finish to dry minimum of 30 minutes before re-coating. Lower temperatures and/or higher humidity may cause slower dry times. Apply additional coats every 15 minutes. Wipe surface thoroughly with a clean lint free cloth to remove excess oil from the surface. Allow finish to dry 12 hours before light use.
