How to Apply Automotive Textured Metallic Spray Paint?
Suitable Environmental Conditions
Use outdoors or in a well ventilated area such as an open garage. Use when temperature is between 50-90°F (10- 32°C) and humidity is below 85% to ensure proper drying. Do not apply to surfaces that, when heated, exceed 200°F (93°C) or galvanized metal. Avoid spraying in very windy and dusty conditions. Cover surrounding area to protect from spray mist.
Plastic Surfaces: Thoroughly wipe down the surface with paint thinner to promote proper adhesion. Use of Plastic Primer Spray provides excellent adhesion. For aged or weathered surfaces, remove loose material with a dry brush, clean with soap and water, rinse and let dry. If mildew is present, wash with a solution of bleach and water, rinse and let dry.
Metal Surfaces: Wash the surface with a commercial detergent, or other suitable cleaning method. Rinse with fresh water and dry with a clean cloth. Remove loose paint and rust with a wire brush or sandpaper. Lightly sand glossy surfaces. Use of Clean Metal Primer Spray provides added corrosion protection, enhances adhesion and hiding, and is especially recommended for metal and wood surfaces.
Shake can vigorously for one minute after the mixing ball begins to rattle. If mixing ball fails to rattle DO NOT STRIKE CAN. Contact Rust-Oleum. Shake often during use. Hold can 10-12" from surface and spray in a steady back-and-forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke. Keep the can the same distance from the surface and in motion while spraying. Apply 2 or more light coats a few minutes apart. Maximum paint adhesion and durability is achieved in 5-7 days. Do not use near open flame.
